Sevan, Armenia, 24 July 2025 – Innovation, viticulture and tourism intertwined in a day full of debates and visions at the WineTech Innovation Summit, held in the picturesque Sevan, in collaboration with the Sevan Startup Summit. The strategic forum, entitled “Innovating Terroir, Transforming Tourism”, brought together over twenty international experts and institutions with the aim of exploring the digital potential of the Armenian and global wine sector.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, the Vine and Wine Foundation and GIZ. During the event, a study on the digital needs of local wine and agri-food producers was presented. The reports, which involved experts from Moldova and Armenia, highlighted how digital innovation can support the growth of local production and contribute to the promotion of geographical indications, as in the case of Armenian brandy.
At the centre of the debate, a panel of experts, including academics, professionals and representatives of relevant institutions, explored the opportunities offered by agritech solutions in the wine sector. During the debate, which was attended by Dario Dell’Antonio, Director of the Public Market at Abaco, a subsidiary of the Diagram group, he presented the contribution of integrated web platforms, highlighting the advantages of using advanced technologies to optimise supply chain management. The discussion also touched on the use of artificial intelligence and remote monitoring, tools that are transforming supply chain management, highlighting how innovations of this magnitude can improve traceability and overall management of the agri-food supply chain, promoting a more efficient, transparent and sustainable approach to wine production.
The contributions also highlighted the main challenges related to digital wine branding, ranging from online engagement to strategies capable of transforming clicks into sensory experiences. In this context, a synergy emerged between Diagram Group, the Edmund Mach Foundation of San Michele all’Adige (TN), represented by Pietro Franceschi, and Roberta Garibaldi, President of the Italian Food and Wine Tourism Association, with a focus on Diagram’s contribution to the digitisation process in Armenia. Particular emphasis was placed on the cultural and commercial ties that unite Italy and Armenia, with wine as an extraordinary tool for connecting the two countries.
The event concluded with an intense networking session and new opportunities for collaboration, with Armenia confirming its role as a leader in the digital transformation of the wine sector. The WineTech Summit continues to consolidate its position as a reference point for the exchange of ideas and the creation of projects that combine tradition, innovation and sustainability in wine tourism.
The initiative was also an opportunity for a meeting between Diagram Group, the Italian ambassador to Armenia and Zaruhi Muradyan, director of the Vine and Wine Foundation.
Diagram’s presence in Armenia is already well established with the development of an innovative system designed to optimise traceability and production process management. The project, called Agricultural (Grape) Value Chain Management System, aims to create an Agriculture Value Chain Information System (AVCIS), a centralised platform that collects and manages production data while ensuring high quality standards and greater overall efficiency.
As declared by Roberto Mancini, CEO of Diagram, “Our participation in the wine sector digitisation project in Armenia represents another concrete step towards optimising traceability and production management. With the development of an advanced vineyard management system, we are helping to improve production efficiency and quality, in line with international best practices. This project is part of a broader context, such as the Winetech Innovation Summit 2025, where we discuss the evolution of viticulture, applied technological solutions and data-driven trends. Diagram Group is committed to support the growth of the wine sector, combining tradition and innovation to promote more sustainable practices and fruitful collaborations.”
